Four Vehicle Crash Leaves Juvenile Dead and Multiple Injured
According to Columbia Missouri Police Department’s Facebook Page, at approximately 11pm on May 5th Columbia Police were dispatched to the area of West Nifong Boulevard and Bethel Street in Columbia for a reported traffic collision. Upon arrival officers learned that at least four vehicles were involved.
The incident left one juvenile fatally injured and another with life-threatening injuries. One more juvenile sustained serious injuries, another three juveniles and one adult female were moderately injured, and an adult male was uninjured.
Investigation determined a 2011 Toyota RAV4 containing five juveniles was traveling east on West Nifong Boulevard at Bethel Street as a 2009 Toyota Carolla driven by a juvenile was traveling north on Bethel Street at West Nifong.
The RAV4 drove through a red light and was struck in the passenger side by the Carolla. The RAV4 began to roll and struck a third vehicle while the Carolla struck a fourth.
After initial impact, at least one occupant of the RAV4 was ejected from the vehicle. None of the occupants of the RAV4 were wearing seatbelts at the time of the collision.
