The Fulton Hornets claimed their spot in the Class 4 Final 4 of the State High School playoffs by defeating St. Charles West 12-9 in St. Charles yesterday (Thursday).

The Hornets fell behind 4-0, however outscored the St. Charles 12-5 between the bottom of the third and the end of the game.

It is the first State appearance for Fulton since 2016.

Up next Fulton faces the highest-ranked team left, in Class 4 the 26-3 John Burroughs in the semifinals at 4pm on Wednesday in Ozark.

South Callaway is in Final Four after defeating Elsberry 6-5 yesterday (Thursday).

They will face Portageville on Wednesday morning at 10.

Six Mizzou Softball players have entered the transfer portal.

They include Rock Bridge graduate Maddie Snider, who started 34 of 44 games as a sophomore at Mizzou this season.

Snider is joined by everyday first baseman Riley Frizell, senior infielder Megan Moll, senior outfielder Kendal Cook, redshirt junior catcher Addi Lange, and senior pitcher Megan Schumacher.

Mizzou’s season ended last Saturday when the Tigers lost to Oklahoma and Cal at the NCAA’s Norman, Oklahoma Regional.

Missouri Basketball associate head coach C.Y. Young is receiving some recognition.

Young was honored as one of the nation’s top assistants this week, earning induction into the A STEP UP Assistant Coaches Hall of Fame.

Young helped the Tigers to their first NCAA Tournament win in 13 years this past season.

The St. Louis Cardinals earned a series split with the Cincinnati Reds on the road yesterday (Thursday) with a 2-1 win.

Redbirds starting pitcher Miles Mikolas paved the way to victory throwing seven shutout innings.
