Mexico Man in Audrain County Jail on Drug Trafficking and Weapons Charges After Traffic Stop on Halloween
Prosecutors have charged a Mexico man with felony counts of First-Degree Drug Trafficking, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, and Resisting Arrest after a traffic stop on Halloween night.
According to court records 50-year-old Larry Karhoff, of Mexico was stopped by troopers just after 10pm on October 31st, because they knew had an active warrant for domestic assault in Montgomery County.
Troopers said they stopped Karhoff at a Mexico apartment building and told him about the warrant, however he refused to get out of his vehicle and was pepper sprayed.
Karhoff was eventually removed from the vehicle by several law enforcement officers and then arrested.
During a search troopers said Karhoff had over 3 grams of what field tested positive for fentanyl.
Along with the fentanyl, over $3,000 in cash was found on him and a semi-automatic handgun in his coat pocket.
In his vehicle troopers say they found small plastic baggies, two scales, a small funnel and one gram of what field tested positive for methamphetamine, and another semi-automatic handgun.
Karhoff was taken to the Audrain County Jail and is being held on a $75,000 bond.
