Mexico Bulldogs Boys Basketball Conquers Montgomery County to Claim 2023 Montgomery County Tournament Championship

The Mexico Bulldogs boys basketball team claimed the Montgomery County Tournament championship for the third time in four years after defeating the Montgomery Wildcats 58-54 on Saturday, December 2, 2023.

Multiple ties and lead changes was the story of the first half.

Montgomery County jumped out to their biggest lead of the game at halftime with a 28-22 lead.

Mexico would come roaring back in the third after going on a run and took the lead at 32-29 and never trailed again.

Charlie Fisher iced two free throws with just seconds left to seal the deal and give Mexico the win.

Bulldogs senior point guard DJ Long had a monster game and led all scorers with 29 points.

Charlie Fisher and PJ Perkins finished the game with eight points each collectively.

Kaden Benne recorded six points.

Jadon Eldridge had five points.

And it was Aidan Knipfel checking in with two points.

With the win the Mexico boys improve to a perfect 4-0 on the season.

Up next Mexico will play their North Central Missouri Conference opener against the Marshall Owls on Tuesday, December 5th at the Mexico High School.
