Hannibal Man Arrested by Mexico Public Safety After Police Pursuit
A Hannibal man is facing several charges following a police chase in Mexico during the morning hours of Thursday, March 28, 2024.
Mexico Public Safety says one of their officers observed a black motorcycle traveling recklessly on South Clark near Hendy just before 11am.
When the officer attempted to stop the motorcycle, the driver refused to stop, causing a pursuit.
While Mexico Public Safety was attempting to stop the motorcycle, it was determined that a Missouri State Highway Patrol Trooper from Callaway County had attempted to stop the same motorcycle earlier but lost sight of it as it neared Mexico.
The motorcycle, suffered a mechanical failure and the driver, 58-year-old Joseph M. Rummans of Hannibal, attempted to leave the area on foot but was safely arrested.
Rummans was taken to the Audrain County Jail for Failure to Yield to Emergency Vehicle, Resisting Arrest, Driving While Revoked, and additional traffic violations.
