The Mexico High School girls tennis team compete in the Osage Tournament on Saturday, September 21, 2024.
Lucy Gleeson and Claire Hudson took first place with a perfect 3 – 0 performance on the day.
Mexico head coach Kim Costley said “We went to Osage on Saturday with 2 doubles teams and 2 singles. Five of the six players were new to this tournament. Lucy Gleeson and Claire Hudson took first place in doubles. They started the day slow and played some of their best tennis by the end of the day.”

The Community R-VI High School Lady Trojans took 3rd place at the Cairo Tournament on Saturday, September 21, 2024.
In game 1 Community R-VI defeated Palmyra 6 – 5.
The Lady Trojans dropped game 2 to La Plata 9 – 6.
Community R-VI then rebounded with a 6 – 1 win over Class 4 Kirksville to claim third place in the tournament.
The Mexico Middle School Cross Country Team was at the Fulton Invitational Cross Country Meet.
Head coach Buck Green said “Very hot and humid condition with another large, very competitive field. Medalists in the boys division were Seth Stevenson 5th, Alex Cortez 10th, and Reed Bickell 21. Top 25 medal.”
The two-time reigning Super Bowl Champions Kansas City Chiefs remained undefeated after beating the Atlanta Falcons 22 – 17 in Atlanta on Sunday, September 22, 2024.
Patrick Mahomes threw a pair of touchdown passes and the Chiefs defense stopped the Falcons twice on fourth down in the closing minutes of the game to preserve the victory.
Mizzou alum Nick Bolton stuffed Falcons running back Bijan Robinson for a three-yard loss on fourth down with less than a minute remaining to help the Chiefs improve to 3-0.
Up next Kansas City remains on the road for another week when they visit Los Angeles this Sunday to face the 2-1 Chargers in an AFC West matchup.
The St. Louis Cardinals wrapped up play at Busch Stadium for the season in a 2-1 win over the Cleveland Guardians on Sunday, September 22, 2024.
Cardinals starting pitcher Andrew Pallante pitched seven innings of one-run ball.
St. Louis took 2 out of 3 games from the Guardians to win the series.
The Cardinals will play their final 6 games of the season on the road.
For the second consecutive series the Kansas City Royals were swept at home with a 2-0 loss to the San Francisco Giants on Sunday, September, 22, 2024.
The Royals matched a season-long seven-game losing streak.
The Royals have fallen into a tie with the Detroit Tigers, who beat the Baltimore Orioles yesterday (Sunday) for the second American League Wild Card spot, although Kansas City holds the head-to-head tiebreaker if the two teams finish with the same record.
