Community R-VI Lady Trojans Basketball Victorious Over Slater
The Community R-VI Lady Trojans basketball team defeated Slater 59-28 on Friday, December 13, 2024.
Community head coach Bob Curtis says, “Friday night we had a 1st quarter honestly that we have been waiting for the first 2 months of the season.
Our full court pressure was really good, our half court offense was executed at a high level, and we made jumpers and free-throws.
Not much went wrong that quarter that saw us put up 22 in that 8 minute span.
All 11 lady trojans ended contributing great minutes with 8 girls scoring in the CAC matchup.
Our senior leaders played a huge role as Aaliyah led us in scoring, Rylee added 6 points and 4 assists, while Amy really anchored our defense forcing 4 turnovers and chipping in 2 points.
They didn’t make mistakes and helped our younger players through some valuable varsity minutes.
Kat Meyer had a big night against their zone as well connecting on three 3’s.
When teams play us zone we need her to make them pay when their are poor closeouts and they leave her open. She did that tonight.
I have seen a lot of growth in this team and am looking forward to what is to come after the Christmas Holiday!”
Community Leaders: Aaliyah Welch 17pts. 8 rebs., Kat Meyer 13pts., 3 three ptrs., Peyton Beamer 8 pts., Jocelyn Curtis 7 pts., Rylee Rafferty 6 pts., Myla Carroll 3pts., Amy McCurdy 2pts., Chloe Johnson 2 pts.
