Federal Grand Jury Charges Moberly Man With Stealing From The Government
A Moberly man was charged this week by a federal grand jury with stealing over $280,000 in COVID funds.
32-year-old Steven W. Hendren was charged with three counts of wire fraud and one count of aggravated identity theft.
Hendren is accused of pretending to be a landlord on applications for rental assistance to the Missouri Housing Development Commission beginning in March 2021.
Hendren allegedly sent in fake applications listing himself as a landlord.
He is also accused of creating fake lease agreements and financial statements, as well as inflating the price of rent.
The Missouri Housing Development Commission sent Hendren $284,840.44.
