Afternoon Fire Damages Audrain County Garage
An estimated $10,000 in damage is being reported following a garage fire in Audrain County during the afternoon hours of Monday, April 7, 2025.
Little Dixie Fire Protection District firefighters were called to 9800 Audrain County 421 shortly after 4:30 on Monday afternoon.
Fire crews arrived and found flames coming from inside of a detached garage.
Little Dixie reports it took about 10 minutes to bring the flames under control and crews worked to prevent the flames from spreading to the home.
The garage sustained significant damage to the carport, with smoke damage throughout.
Damage is estimated at $10,000 to the structure and lawn care equipment owned by Jimmy Lovelace according to Little Dixie Fire Protection District.
No injuries were reported.
Investigators determined the cause was unattended burning of trash in the front yard of the home, which spread to leaves near the garage.
