One Seriously Injured In 5 Car Jefferson City Crash

One person was seriously injured in a five car crash in the 1300 block of U.S. Highway 50 West in Jefferson City just before 7:30 this morning. [Thursday]

According to the Jefferson City Police Department, the crash occurred in the eastbound lane when a vehicle driven by Hope Smith of Jefferson City failed to stop for traffic ahead and initiated a chain reaction crash.

One of the drivers, Lauren Ketter, sustained serious injuries and was transported by ambulance to a hospital in Columbia for treatment.

The initial investigation indicates all the occupants of the 5 vehicles were wearing their seat belts.

Highway 50 was blocked for approximately an hour.
