Holts Summit Church Vandalized

An investigation is underway after the Mt. Vernon Missionary Baptist Church in Holts Summit was badly vandalized on Wednesday morning.

The Callaway County Sheriff’s Department is leading the investigation.

According to reports the damage included bullet holes in the doors, windows shattered, pews overturned and toilets smashed.

The church’s pastor Gordan Coleman, told reporters that damage to the church happens at least 5 to 6 times a year.

Coleman says the church has served as a place of worship for a predominately African American congregation for almost 200 years.
