Columbia Police Experiencing Staffing Shortages

Staffing issues are pushing back the opening of some Columbia Parks and Recreation pools.

In a release, city officials announced they would open the Albert-Oakland Family Aquatic Center on Wednesday, June 9th, instead of Saturday, May 29th.

Douglass Family Aquatic Center will open on July 1st if they can hire enough lifeguards.

The Lake of the Woods Pool will not open in 2021.

The Parks and Recreation Department needs to hire 70 lifeguards to open Douglass and Lake of the Woods for the Summer.
