The Mexico Bulldog boys wrestlers pick up 3 of 4 wins at the Sam Richardson Duals in Moberly Friday and Saturday.
Mexico beat Chillicothe 51 – 27 Friday with Ricardo Juarez, Watson Azdell, Ahrajah Givens, Grant VanHorn, Dylan Mosley, Keith Ransom, Jokiah Sewell, Deacon Haag, and Emille Scanavino all picking up wins.
The Dogs also beat St. James Friday night, 45 – 30 with Ricardo Juarez, Grant VanHorn, Dylan Mosley, Keith Ransom, Peyton Hoover, Jokiah Sewell, Deacon Haag, and Emille Scanavino all picking up wins.
Saturday’s action saw Mexico lose to Cameron 39 – 30 despite wins by Grant VanHorn, Dylan Mosley, Keith Ransom, Cameron Beasley, Jokiah Sewell, and Morgan Grubb.
Mexico took down Osage 44 – 30 with the help of wins by Ricardo Juarez, Watson Azdell, Grant VanHorn, Dylan Mosley, Keith Ransom, Jokiah Sewell, Deacon Haag, and Keegan Koons.
The Mexico Lady Bulldog wrestlers have five wrestlers in the top ten of the 2021 Lady Mustangs Christmas Clash in Eldon.
The Clash was held Friday and Saturday and saw Katie Bowen pick up first place with 29.5 team points.
Kaylynn Pehle took home second place with 20.5 team points.
Getting 17 team points and third place was Abbigale Drew and in fifth place was Alizabeth Welch.
Shelby Shramek scored 10 team points and earned seventh place and Matty Tolbert scored 2 team points and took home twelfth place.
Community R-VI boys and girls basketball split games over the weekend.
Friday night, R-VI girls beat the North Shelby Raiders in a nail-biter, 56 – 55 while the boys lost to North Shelby 74 – 33.
Saturday night in the Gary Filbert Classic in Mexico, the Lady Trojans handled the North Callaway Lady Thunderbirds 49 – 46 with the T-birds turning the tables on the Trojan boys 56 – 28.
The Winnipeg Jets doubled up the Blues yesterday in Winnipeg, 4 – 2.
Vladimir Tarasenko and Niko Mikkola were the lone scorers for the Blues with Jordan Binnington stopping 30 shots.
Following the announcement yesterday that NHL teams can’t cross the border to play starting today, the Blues’ games against Ottawa tomorrow and Toronto on Thursday are postponed and will be rescheduled.
The fourth meeting between Mizzou and Utah and the first one in Columbia saw the basketball Tigers get their first win over the Utes Saturday.
Kobe Brown set a career-high with 27 points in the 83 – 72 victory.
The game featured 21 ties and 11 lead changes.
Next up for the Tigers is the McBride Braggin’ Rights Classic on Wednesday night against Illinois.
Tipoff is at 8 from the Enterprise Center in St. Louis.
