The PGA Tour moves to Tulsa, Oklahoma for the PGA Championship at Southern Hills. This major tournament was played in August for years and if you’ve ever spent any time in Tulsa in late summer you know it’s not unusual for temperatures to reach the century mark.

The forecast this week is calling for highs around 90 Thursday and Friday and mild weather around 70 over the weekend, but there is a chance of thunderstorms the first three days. That answers the question about the weather, the next question is, is Tiger Woods in the field? The answer this time is a definite yes. Will he win? No. My opinion. Tiger says he is in better shape physically than he was going into the Masters and Southern Hills is not nearly as hilly, which would seem to work in his favor. So if Tiger doesn’t figure into the equation, who does?

The unflappable #1 player in the world, Scottie Scheffler certainly deserves consideration as does last week’s winner, K.H. Lee.

Justin Thomas’ game is coming around. He shot a few low rounds last weekend at the Byron Nelson.

No one is talking about my guy, Collin Morikawa. He is my pick this weekend. He will be paired in round one with Jon Rahm and Scheffler, so if he can hang with those guys he should be able to gauge his chances of winning the Wannamaker Cup.

A few threesomes to watch include: The Jordan Spieth, Rory McIlory and Tiger Woods group at 9:11 off number ten tee, the Matsuyama, Schauffele and Finau pairing at 8:38 off the back nine, the Daniel Berger, Louis Oosthuizen and Ian Poulter threesome off number one at 2:47, and the Dustin Johnson, Patrick Cantlay and Justin Thomas group off the first tee at 2:14.

The defending champion, Phil Mickelson is taking some personal time off and will not be in the field this weekend.

It should be a fun championship. The weather could be a factor like it was in the Masters and my money is on Morikawa.
