KWWR Sports Report 1/25/23
Former Cardinals third baseman Scott Rolen is the lone player to get 75% of all ballots cast by the Baseball Writers’ Association of America, earning him a spot in the National Baseball Hall of Fame.
Rolen was drafted by the Phillies in the second round of the 1993 MLB Draft and was traded to the Cardinals in 2002 where he spent parts of six seasons before ending his career with Toronto and Cincinnati.
Rolen is also a member of the Cardinals Hall of Fame and will be inducted in Cooperstown on July 23rd.

Behind a school-record 16 3-pointers in an SEC contest, the Mizzou Tigers pick up a road win over Ole Miss last night, 89 – 77.
Grad student D’Moi Hodge scored a game-high 24 points while Columbia native Isiaih Mosley added 20.
The Tigers improve to 15 – 5 and 4 – 4 in SEC play.
Next up for Mizzou, the SEC – Big 12 Challenge as they take on Iowa State at home Saturday afternoon, tipoff set for 1:00.

The Blues look to re-group after a loss to Buffalo last night at home, 5 – 3.
They’ll have until Saturday to re-group as they travel to Colorado to take on the Avalanche at 2:00.
Round one of boys play in the 98th Annual Bowling Green Tourney last night sees a couple of upsets.
The number one seed Elsberry, led by Kyle Turnbull with 25 points, handled #8 Silex 79 – 46 despite Silex’s high scorer Josh Price’s 19 points on the night.
Number 5 seed Van-Far got off to a slow start in the first quarter before coming from from behind and beating the number 4 seed Louisiana Bulldogs 30 – 28.
The host Bowling Green Bobcats, seeded 7th beat the number 2 seed Clopton 47 – 42.
Clopton’s Tyler Kuntz had 20 points on the night.
Sam Pezold from North Callaway put up 20 points but it wasn’t enough.
Sixth-seeded Winfield got 16 points each from Peter Nicholl and Kaden Kaiman to go on to beat the #3 seeded Thunderbirds 58 – 51.
The hunt for the championship is on as Elsberry takes on Van-Far while Bowling Green gets Winfield tomorrow night.
