ACSRC launches Bricks of Home – Campaign to support Shelter and housing Programs. A community-driven initiative inviting individuals, families, and Businesses to leave a permanent mark while supporting shelter and housing services in Audrain County. Supporters can purchase personalized, Laser-engraved bricks that will be permanently displayed inside St. Brendan’s Cafe, the newly renovated dining space within room at the inn. September 23 – October 11 Maples Repertory Hosts International Anne Frank Exhibit. This fall, a unique experience is coming. In conjunction with their professional stage production of The Diary of Anne Frank, Maples Repertory Theatre has made arrangements to bring an internationally heralded display to Macon that puts this story into historical context. Maples Repertory obtained “Anne Frank: A History for Today,” a 30-panel exhibit developed by the Anne Frank House in Amsterdam, Holland. This exhibit is distributed in North America by the Anne Frank Center at the University of South Carolina. Patrons attending the show are invited to come 30-45 minutes before the performance in order to tour the exhibit, or plan to stay afterwards. Local volunteers have been trained to help guide visitors through the exhibit and answer questions. A special grant from the Missouri Humanities Council made it possible to bring this experience to Macon.
October 3 The Central Missouri Monument Fundraiser Fish Fry will be held on Saturday, October 3. Doors open at 3:00 pm; serving starts at 4:00 pm at the VFW Hall in Mexico. There will be a silent auction and raffles. Catfish Dinner for $15 includes Homemade chips, choice of baked beans or coleslaw, and cornbread or a Hot Dog Plate with Homemade chips, choice of baked beans or coleslaw, and cornbread. Big Springs Methodist Church Lord’s Acre Dinner and Sale will be held on Saturday, October 3. Dinner service begins at 4:30 pm runs until 6:30 pm with live auction at 6:30 pm after dinner at the Big Springs Firehouse.
