Some Columbia Bar and Restaurant Owners Plan Protest Over Drink Special Ordinance

Several local restaurants and bar owners in Columbia are planning a protest today (Monday) to voice their concerns about a proposed ordinance on drink specials.

The Columbia City Council is considering on ordinance that would prevent establishments from being able to have drink specials like buy one, get one, samples, or bottomless cups.

It would also regulate prices for drinks based on alcohol sales at each establishment.

The reason for the ordinance is to reduce underage drinking, booze related crashes, and excessive drinking.

The protests are being planned outside of the Columbia City Hall at 2:30 this (Monday) afternoon, ahead of a meeting scheduled at 3.
