Human Remains Found In Columbia Landfill

It is now being confirmed that human remains were found during a landfill search in Columbia yesterday (Wednesday) by police that are consistent with a woman who has been missing since 2006.

Columbia Police held a press conference last (Wednesday) night and said during a continued dig at the landfill yesterday (Wednesday) detectives and Solid Waste Utility crews found what appeared to be human remains and a professional anthropologist confirmed that what was found is, in fact, human remains.

Police cannot say with certainty that the remains belong to Megan Shultz, however an identification process will be extensive and will include DNA testing.

The Boone County Prosecutors Office filed charges this month after Keith Comfort was arrested in connection with a missing persons case from 2006.
