JEFFERSON CITY STRUCTURE FIRE

A home in Jefferson City has significant damage after a fire last (Monday) night.

According to the Jefferson City Fire Department it happened just before 9 in the 200 block of Dunford Street.

A large amount of fire was coming from the rear of the building and smoke coming from the front.

Firefighters say they were able to prevent the blaze from spreading to neighboring houses.

One of the occupants had minor injuries but chose not to seek medical treatment, two birds were rescued from the building and are with the owners.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
