MEXICO CITY COUNCIL

At last night’s Mexico city council meeting, the board held a public hearing about recodification of the city ordinances, last updated in 1988.

Ordinances are adopted and approved laws that have been collected for public safety. The recodification process brings codes into accordance with state law. Most of the changes being made are wording and eliminating obsolete laws.

The first reading for the adoption of the ordinances will be in December.

In addition, 2 charitable organizations will get additional funding from the city. The Mexico Senior Center was awarded 14000 dollars. The center serves more than 58000 meals to senior citizens every year.

The Laura Miller George Help Center was given 5000 dollars to assist with operational costs needed to continue to provide food for community member in need of assistance.
