Dollar General Employees in Auxvasse are taking steps to join a union.

According to a news release from the company the employees overwhelmingly voted for union representation last week on Friday.

The employees could become the first store in the discount chain to join the union.

They would be represented by the United Food and Commercial Workers, Local 655.

Dollar General will now have one week to contest the results, if no action is taken the company would under law have to recognize the union as the exclusive bargaining representative at the store.
