The identity of the man found on a roadway in Audrain County yesterday (Tuesday) and later pronounced dead is 19 year old Antonio D. Jefferson of Mexico.

The Audrain County Sheriff’s office has asked the Mid Missouri Major Case Squad to help in the investigation.

The incident occurred around noon yesterday (Wednesday) where a car was reported on fire and Jefferson was running down in the roadway.

Deputies say they found Jefferson in the road with injuries not consistent with a car crash.

An autopsy is underway at the Boone County Medical Examiner’s Office to determine the cause of death.
