An Eldon man is in being held in jail after an arrest where he is suspected of robbing a gas station and assaulting a pregnant clerk yesterday (Sunday).

According to the Eldon Police Department the incident happened at Brumby’s gas station where a clerk told them that a suspect identified as David McCoy took cigarettes and beer, and assaulted her before leaving the store.

The clerk who is 38 weeks pregnant was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Police say they picked up McCoy on Maple Street and he confessed to the assault and robbery.

He is also on probation for possession of a controlled substance through the Morgan County Court System according to police.
