First degree murder charges are being brought against a man accused of beating, stabbing, and dragging a man until he was unconscious at a Lake Ozark Campground.

According to reports from KRCG Channel 13 a source close to the situation says 40 year old John Joe Powell will be charged with first degree murder and armed criminal action in the death of Mark Johnson.

Powell is currently in the Jefferson City Correctional Center, where is is serving a four year prison sentence from an incident in 2014 where he was convicted of domestic assault and animal abuse.
