Governor Eric Greitens has announced a crackdown on medicaid providers who over-prescribe opioids.

The Department of Social Services, Department of Mental Health and the Department of Health and Senior Services have joined forces to implement national standards for prescribing opioids to chronic pain patients.

Last year, 1.2 million opioid prescriptions were paid for by Mo Healthnet.
