FLASH FLOOD SAFETY FOCUSED ON TODAY FOR SEVERE WEATHER AWARENESS WEEK

Flash Flood Safety is the focus today (Wednesday) as part of severe weather awareness week.

Flash flood and flood events have caused many deaths in Missouri for years.

In 2017 there were 9 flood deaths.

National Weather Service is reminding people that six inches of swiftly flowing flood water can knock a person over, while two feet of water will make most vehicle float.

Folks are reminded to never drive into a flooded area.

And be especially cautious at night when darkness often hides flood dangers.
