Severe Thunderstorm Safety is being highlighted today (Thursday) as part of Severe Weather Awareness Week.

According to the National Weather Service Severe Thunderstorms can produce hail the size of a quarter or larger.

Thunderstorm safety includes avoiding traveling or get off the road and seek shelter in a building during the storm.

Lightning includes going quickly inside a completely enclosed building before the storm arrives.
