Missouri Attorney General Josh Hawley is defending a 241 year prison sentence for a man convicted as a 16 year old.

Bobby Bostic was sentenced for 18 crimes, including robbery and kidnapping, as a juvenile.

In a brief filed on Thursday, Hawley backed the sentence saying a 2010 Supreme Court ruling that outlawed life sentences for people under 18 who didn’t kill anyone only applies to a sentence for one crime.

The original sentencing judge disagrees, and backs Bostic’s appeal to the high court, calling the sentence unjust.

Bostic, now 39 years old, is currently not eligible for parole until he is 112 years old.
