ELSBERRY MAN TELLS POLICE “I MURDERED MY FATHER…”

A 23 year old Elsberry man is charged with second degree murder in the death of his father.

Brandon Spies knocked on the door of the police station on Saturday night. When an officer responded he reportedly said “I murdered my father.”

Richard Spies was found in the basement of a home, stabbed once in the neck.

A search warrant uncovered a bloody 7 inch knife within the house.

Brandon Spies refused to speak with investigators further about the incident.

He is being held in the Lincoln County Jail with a 500 thousand dollar cash only bond.
