FUNDING CUTS TO SOBRIETY CHECKPOINTS APPROVED BY MO HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES BUDGET COMMITTEE

Funding to Sobriety checkpoints in Missouri may soon be cut.

The House of Representative’s Budget Committee voted in favor of cutting funds for the checkpoints yesterday (Thursday).

According to the Chairman of the House Budget Committee Republican Scott Fitzpatrick the money taken from funding the sobriety checkpoints would go toward saturation patrols instead, which created more than three thousand arrests in 2016.

The Director of Mothers Against Drunk Driving is against cutting the funding for the checkpoints, saying that the checkpoints are a lifesaving tool.
