An Independence man is facing DWI charges and recovering from serious injuries after an ATV accident in the Lake of the Ozarks.

According to the highway patrol it happened around 11:15 Saturday night when 19 year old Brandon Schwermer missed a curve while driving a four wheeler on Appalachian Lane going off the road and crashing into a culvert.

Schermer was airlifted to the University Hospital and arrested an hour after the wreck.
