Area Law Enforcement Take Part in Youth Crisis Training

A Youth Crisis Training for law enforcement is going on in Callaway County.

The training is to prepare law enforcement to identify help and intervene with youth who may be experiencing serious behavioral health difficulties or crisis.

Laura Heitman Community Mental Health Liaison for Arthur Center Community Health says suicide is the third leading cause of death for people ages 10 through 24.

Other training topics included suicide and self harm, de-escalation dealing with defiant behavior, to LGBTQ issues, and active shooter situations.

Law officials from Fulton, Montgomery, Audrain Pike and several other Health agencies took part in the training that concludes today (Wednesday).
