Jefferson City School District Being Sued by Sexual Abuse Victim

A lawsuit is being filed against the Jefferson City Public Schools and the Jefferson City High School Principal.

The lawsuit is being brought a sexual abuse victim who says the high school allowed her to leave in 2016 based on some phone calls placed by a man posing as her father.

The lawsuit claims that according to school policy anyone asking the release of a student must present proper id and can be positively identified as the students parent or guardian.

The phone calls were coming from a 31 year old Jerome Buschman who was the students adopted cousin, he was sentenced to five years in jail after pleading guilty to statutory rape and statutory sodomy charges.

According to court records the student was dismissed from school early on four separate occasions.

The Jefferson City Superintendent Larry Linthacum says the district cannot comment on the case.
