A record amount of food collected in Audrain County over the weekend for the National Letter Carriers Food Drive.

6,528 pounds of non-perishable food items was collected on Saturday, last year 5300 pounds was collected.

Phillip Iman Executive of the Laura Miller George Help Center in Mexico says its hard to explain just how important this food is.

Iman says they will start sorting through the food today to get ready for distribution here in Audrain County.
