The FBI and ATF are currently investigating in Cole County after pipe bombs were found in a vehicle during a traffic stop last (Tuesday) night.
According to the Cole County Sheriff’s Department they arrested 39 year old Charles McBrearety after they stopped him in the 7200 block of Heritage Highway and deputies report finding drug paraphernalia and two pipe bombs.
A search was then conducted of McBrearety’s residence and police report finding some detonation cord, and two more pipe bombs.
The man allegedly said he intended to use the bombs at the racetrack where he works, although a reason was not given.
The Cole County Prosecutor’s Office filed charges against McBrearety yesterday (Wednesday).
