University Cuts 185 Jobs

The University of Missouri is cutting 185 jobs to help fill a nearly 49 million dollar budget gap.

In a press conference, Vice Chancellor for Finance Rhonda Gibler said the positions are mostly staff.

In addition to the job cuts every divistion will also see budget reductions.

Some money is being allocated into different areas. 6.2 million dollars will help fund merit based pay raises, and 8 million will go into scholarship funds.

The shortage of funds stems from reduced enrollment and reductions in state support.
