Jefferson City School District Hosting Boundary Lines Meetings

Jefferson City Public schools are explaining and welcoming discussion on district boundary lines with just a year before the Capital City High School will open next year.

A meeting was led by superintendent Dr. Larry Linthacum inside the Thomas Jefferson Middle School last (Tuesday) night.

A boundary line committee was formed that consists of 32 volunteers, and represents each of the districts elementary schools.

The committee has talked with a district contracted demographer for recommendations to the school board.

The top goal is to create equity in enrollment and poverty levels between Jefferson City High School and the Capital City High School.

Parents and community broke up into groups at last (Tuesday) nights meeting and discussed different scenarios.

Another community discussion is scheduled to take place tonight (Wednesday) from 6-7:30 in the Lewis and Clark Middle School cafeteria.
