Natural Cover Fire Along Highway 22

Multiple departments are on scene along Highway 22 to fight a natural cover fire.

The blaze stretches about 5 miles along the railroad tracks between Mexico and Centralia.

Several Little Dixie Fire Protection District stations, along with Mexico Public Safety and the Centralia Fire Department are battling the fire.

The fire is believed to have been caused by a train throwing sparks along the tracks around 1:45 this afternoon. [Wednesday]
