A three million dollar jail renovation project is getting ready to take place in Warren County.
The county commission has approved contractor bids for the work.
The renovations will convert current offices of the sheriffs department into extra housing for inmates, and new offices for the sheriff’s department will be built in the basement of the courthouse.
Warren County Officials say it will address an ongoing overcrowding issue in the jail which was built in 1997.
The original capacity was for 106 inmates, however current day to day average jail population is about 130 inmates.
The work will be done in two phases and is expected to completed by next summer.
