Charges Filed After Serious Crash, Manhunt In Audrain County

The Callaway County Prosecuting Attorney filed charges today [Wednesday] against 23 year old Michael Markwell of Mexico after a stolen truck crashed in Audrain County, prompting a manhunt near the county line yesterday. [Tuesday]

According to a probable cause statement, Markwell, along with several other people, stole the truck containing 4 firearms from 4577 Hickory Homestead in the Millersburg area.

After stealing the truck, Markwell admitted to firing one of the guns found in the vehicle.

The truck, driven by 17 year old Joshua Kennemore, also of Mexico crashed into a tree, seriously injuring Kennemore.

Markwell was arrested nearly 2 hours later on Audrain Road 823.

He is charged with tampering with a motor vehicle, stealing a firearm, and unlawful use of a weapon.
