Mexico Man In Audrain County Jail After Incident With Gun

A Mexico man is in the Audrain County Jail after an arrest last (Tuesday) night involving a disturbance involving a gun.

According to Mexico Public Safety they were called to the 1300 block of North Olive just after 10:30 and found that 26 year old Curtis McCandless had fired a handgun twice.

Officers say when they spoke with McCandless he was intoxicated and upset and charged and threatened officers while they were speaking with him.

McCandless reportedly tried to break free from officers while in handcuffs and charge another officer who was standing nearby.

He is facing charges of Fourth Degree Assault on a special victim, and unlawful use of a weapon, plus attempted escape from confinement.
