Mail Freight Liner Hits Bridge in Jefferson City Causing Two Hour Delay
US 63 southbound in Jefferson City is back open after a freightliner loaded with mail hit a bridge.
The crash happened around 7:30 this (Friday) morning when the freightliner ran off the road, hit several traffic barriers filled with sand, then came back on the road and hit the bridge coming to rest in the roadway.
Southbound traffic was diverted for around two hours while the roadway was being cleared.
The driver 71 year old Melvin D. Heath of Hartsburg had moderate injuries and was taken to Boone Hospital in Columbia for treatment.
