Jury Awards Millions to Missouri Corrections Officers in Lawsuit

A Cole County Jury is awarding one hundred thirteen point seven million dollars to Missouri prison guards.

The jury awarded the money yesterday (Wednesday) to thirteen thousand current corrections officers and to those who worked at the Department of Corrections since 2007.

The guards were compensated for work they performed before and after their shifts.

In a statement from the Missouri Attorney General’s office, who has been defending the state in the lawsuit for several years, they disagree with the verdict and is assessing the next step.
