Number of Sexually Transmitted Diseases On the Rise For Mid Missouri

An increase in the number of sexually transmitted diseases is being reported for Mid Missouri.

According to a report released yesterday (Tuesday) by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention 2.3 million cases, of syphilis, gonorrhea and chlamydia were diagnosed in 2017.

The numbers are steadily rising over the past 5 years.

According to a mid Missouri health official one reason for the increase in STD’s is because many people go untested.
