Gun Brought By Eight Grader To Mexico Middle School Was Reported Stolen

A student found with a gun at the Mexico Middle School yesterday (Wednesday) is now turned over to Juvenile Court facing several charges.

According to Mexico Public Safety staff members at the school observed an 8th grade student acting suspiciously around 2:17 yesterday (Wednesday) afternoon.

The student was found to have a stolen gun in his possession and was taken to the Mexico Public Safety Department.

It was found the gun had been reported stolen earlier this year in February.

An investigation is continuing and officers say there was no indication that the juvenile was planning on using the gun.

The 8th grader is facing charges of Unlawful Use of a Weapon and Stealing or receiving stolen property.
