One Dead and One DWI Arrest on Highway 50 in Moniteau County

One person is dead and a DWI arrest has been made in a multi vehicle collision yesterday (Tuesday) in Moniteau County.

According to the Missouri Highway Patrol a car driven by Joshua Kirchner of California hit a truck from behind then went into oncoming traffic and hit a second truck head on.

The first truck also hit the second truck. 60 year old Steven Smart died at the scene.

Kirchner and his passenger were taken to a Jefferson City hospital.

Jose Perez of Jefferson City was airlifted to University Hospital in Columbia, where troopers later arrested him for DWI and driving without a license.
