Fiery Crash On I-70 Eastbound in Cooper County

Several people are recovering from injuries in a fiery crash that blocked traffic heading eastbound on I-70 in Cooper County last (Thursday) night.

The Missouri Highway Patrol reports the accident happened at the 111 mile marker around 10:50 when a when a stranded vehicle was blocking the driving lane, and a second vehicle came to a stop and was hit from behind causing them to overturn and catch fire.

53 year old Jesse L. Leach of Springfield had moderate injuries, and 38 year old Michael S. McCoy of Richmond had minor injuries.

Both people were taken to the University Hospital.
