Versailles Man Pleads Guilty To Weapons Charge

A Versailles man who stole nine firearms during a burglary of a pawn shop entered a guilty plea in federal court today [Monday] for illegally possessing firearms.

Forty seven year old Joseph Marin Melendez admitted he broke into Ozark Gun and Pawn during the early morning hours of July 22, 2016. A search warrant of Melendez’s home and property revealed the guns.

Melendez is a convicted felon and therefore prohibited by federal law from possessing any firearms or ammunition.

He is subject to up to 10 years in prison.
