Missouri Voters Say No to Fuel Tax and Yes to Minimum Wage and Medical Marijuana

Missouri voters say no to a proposal that would have raised the state’s gas tax to help pay for road and bridge improvements.

Proposition D, was voted down yesterday (Tuesday) that would have increased the state’s 17 cent per gallon tax, by 10 cents per gallon.

Voters did approve a higher minimum wage in Missouri.

Proposition B approved the current Missouri minimum wage to go from $7.85 per hour to $8.60 per hour in 2019 and gradually raise increase to $12 per hour by 2023.

Medical marijuana is a yes in Missouri.

Amendment 2 was approved it will allow cancer patients and others with serious illnesses including post-traumatic stress order to be eligible.

A four percent sales tax will go to a newly created fund for health and care services for veterans.

The sales tax revenue will also be used to administer licensing of medical marijuana businesses.

Voters turned down Amendment 3, which would have added a 15 percent tax, and Proposition 2 which would have imposed a 2 percent sales tax on medical marijuana.
