Department of Corrections Officer Returns To Work

An officer at the Jefferson City Correctional Center is back at work after being slashed in the face by an inmate with a homemade weapon on Monday.

The officer was reportedly escorting the inmate to a cell in segregated housing when the inmate freed his hands and pulled the weapon from his clothing.

Approximately 6 other prison staff members restrained the inmate.

The officer sustained cuts to his face and was treated in the prison’s medical unit before being sent to an outside facility for further treatment.
